Cancer treatment is simply the use of chemotherapy, surgery, radiation or other treatments to cure an existing cancer, prevent the growth of cancer or even stop the spread of a cancer. There are several types of cancer treatment. Depending upon your specific condition, you might get one therapy or you might get a combination of therapies. One common type of integrative treatment for advanced cancers is called radical prostatectomy/urethralase.

Prostatectomy/urethralase involves removing or destroying the prostate gland via an incision in the scrotum. Radical prostatectomy/urethralase has many advantages. The main advantage is that it eliminates the cancer from the gland, although it does not remove the cancer cells themselves. Other kinds of cancer treatment for advanced state include: total hysterectomy, radical prostatectomy, palliative therapy, etc. If you do not respond to standard therapy, then your doctor may recommend you to undergo one of these therapies. Some doctors may also recommend other types of cancer treatment, such as: lung transplant, immunotherapy, hormone therapy and etc.

Radiation therapy is a form of cancer treatment using high-energy rays (like x-rays) to kill cancer cells, stop their growth or shrink a tumor. Most people are familiar with this form of therapy. The naturopathic oncologist uses two different methods to achieve its goal: either the radiation beams are directed at the cancerous area or the radiation itself travels through the body. Radiation therapy can be used either in a hospital setting or in the comfort of your own home. However, there are some side effects associated with radiation therapies. Some of the side effects caused by radiation are: bone deterioration, vomiting, skin rash, anxiety, etc.
Another form of cancer treatment that uses radiofrequency ablation is cryotherapy. Cryotherapy is often administered by liquid nitrogen being sprayed onto the area of the tumor, where it is suspected the cancer cells are present. Radiofrequency ablation is done by using a needle-like instrument to freeze the tumor or cyst. As the frozen material is heated by radiofrequency energy, it shrinks back to normal. When the tissue is fully restored to its normal size, the pain, swelling and bruising will be gone.

Computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are some of the most common cancer imaging tools today. They can either be used together or independently. When combined, the images from both procedures give the physician a more comprehensive picture of the disease and plan the next step. When MRI and CT are used separately, doctors need a smaller sample of cells to work with, so the procedure takes longer. Furthermore, there are now new techniques that allow for simultaneous MRI and CT which increases the chances of successful treatment.
Chemotherapy is often used as an initial treatment along with chemotherapy or surgery. When other forms of treatment are not suitable, chemo follows. The combination of chemotherapy and radiation is referred to as systemic therapy. This treatment combines numerous drugs, vitamins and herbs that are prescribed to help ensure the body is able to fight the disease on its own. Systemic therapy is very effective in achieving treatment goals, but does require daily doses of medication to ensure the body is functioning as expected.
